The Bradley Playhouse presents its 2012 Season

We are delighted to bring you a collection of performances that are both new and old favorites on the Bradley stage.  What could be more appropriate then The Sunshine Boys, a story of two old vaudevillians on the authentic vaudeville stage of the Bradley?  The Sound of Music returns to delight audiences with old familiar songs while The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee introduces quirky new ones.  These plays and three others round out our season, so, please come be entertained, delighted and intrigued!  Please note:  All 2012 regular season performances will begin at 7:30 p.m.

GORILLA GIRL AND BLACK COMEDY

Jan. 20, 21, 27, 28 and Feb. 3, 4 at 7:30 p.m. • Jan. 22, 29 and Feb. 5 at 2 p.m.

A blonde starlet is taught the finer nuances of acting by a gorilla in the first of these Gorilla Girl and Black Comedytwo one-act comedies.  This skit is a perfect pre-amble to Black Comedy.  Ever wonder what happens in the dark? Peter Shaffer’s hysterical, slapstick comedy shows, (through the “magic of theater”), what happens to a room full of people when the lights go out.  The perfect evening to chase away the winter blues!

THE 25TH ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE
March 16, 17, 23, 24, 30, 31 at 7:30 p.m. • March 18, 25 and April 1 at 2 p.m.

This multiple Tony Award winning musical comedy centers on a spelling bee in
The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Beethe fictitious Putnam Valley Middle School. Six quirky “adolescents” compete in the contest run by three equally quirky grown- ups.  Spelling Bee will leave you laughing and clapping as you watch these “adolescents” compete for the championship.  You too may be asked to compete, so brush up on your spelling and study your dictionary for your spot in Spelling Bee!

THE SUNSHINE BOYS
May 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19 at 7:30 p.m. • May 6, 13, 20 at 2 p.m.

“Lewis and Clark” were top-billed vaudevillians for over forty years. Now they The Sunshine Boysaren’t evenspeaking. When CBS requests they reunite for a “History of Comedy” special, a grudging reunion brings the two back together along with a flood of memories, miseries and laughs. You will be rolling in the aisles as you relive the golden age of vaudeville at the Bradley Playhouse.

THE SOUND OF MUSIC
July 27, 28 and Aug. 3, 4, 10, 11 at 7:30 p.m. • July 29 and Aug. 5, 12 at 2 p.m.

One of the great musicals of our time is the story of a widowed ex-naval officer
Sound of Musicwith seven children, whose home is a place of order and discipline. That is until the arrival of postulant Frauline Maria. She teaches the Von Trapp children how to sing, sharing the magic of the sound of music. With such well known hits as “The Sound of Music”, “My Favorite Things” and “Edelweiss,” The Sound of Music will stay with you long after you leave the theatre!

WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION
October 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20 at 7:30 p.m. • October 7, 14, 21 at 2 p.m.

SCROOGE & MARLEY - A CHRISTMAS CAROL
December 7, 8, 14, 15, 21, 22 at 7:30 p.m. • December 9, 16, 23 at 2 p.m.

This classic holiday treat offers an adaption that scrupulously follows the Dickens’
A Christmas Carol - Scrooge & Marleyoriginal. However, in bringing it to life on stage elements of inventiveness and brilliant theatricality are added to enhance and strengthen its timeless virtues. The end result is a production of unique eloquence which will delight audiences of all ages.
